The main ingredient in Ro_tel is tomatoes in tomato juice. When substituting for the tomato flavor in a recipe that calls for Ro_tel, use canned diced tomatoes. To maintain the same consistency as Ro*tel, do not drain the tomatoes from their juice.

If you don’t have Rotel, you can use canned tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, or tomato paste. If you use canned tomatoes, add them to the pan and simmer for 20 minutes. If you use crushed tomatoes, add them to the pan and simmer for about 15 minutes.
