"What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. ... "With the fall of Coruscant and the elimination of the traitorous Jedi, Palpatine's rise to power was complete.

The Empire was the peace. The Republic was a joke, as far as everyone was concerned. No one took it seriously. It was a kid’s thing, run by kids. The Empire was solid, serious. A real government. The Empire had the power of a supernova at its disposal. It was the peace.

It's easy to get caught up in the big moments of Star Wars like the destruction of Alderaan or the reveal of the Death Star. But to me, the rise of the Empire is more about the small moments and the quiet characters.

On the surface, there were no marches, no protests, no sign of movement at all. But when a man has power, he understands that he has power, and he understands how to keep that power.
