It takes the earth approximately 365.242199 days to orbit the sun and the earth’s rotation around its own axis takes approximately 23 hours. That means that the earth makes one rotation on its axis approximately every 86,400 seconds (1 day x 24 hours x 60 minutes x 60 seconds is 86,400 seconds).
