How would you motivate a child who doesn’t want to participate in the classroom?

I would try to understand his perspective because there could be a variety of reasons. Perhaps he is going through a phase where he doesn’t want to participate in the classroom because he doesn’t like the teacher or the topic or the classroom is too hot or cold or too noisy or too boring.

I would sit down with the child and talk about the things that they like to do. If there was something that they were really passionate about, then I would try and involve them in the classroom in a way that would be a little more connected to that passion.

It can be very hard to motivate a child who doesn’t want to participate in the classroom, because it can be hard to get them to even want to get out of bed in the morning.

I’d try to figure out what motivates that child. If it’s food, then I’d try to find something that that child loves to eat and use that as a reward.
