If your phone is not showing the signal bar, the first thing you should check is if you have the correct APN (Access Point Name) settings. APN settings are unique to each carrier and your phone, so you will have to check with your carrier or with the phone manufacturer.

First, you have to turn on USB debugging on your phone. To do this go to settings on your phone and then about phone. Scroll down to build number and tap on it 7 times. Then go to settings again and scroll down to developers options and turn on usb debugging.
