If you have loose tamper handle, try to tighten it with a screwdriver and look at the side of the tamper handle to see if there is a screw there. You can either tighten the screw or if it's loose, you can take it out and put it back together in the same way.

Loose hand tampers are a common problem on espresso machines. This happens when the handle stops fitting snugly into the portafilter. Sometimes it can be fixed with a little cleaning and re-greasing.

The tamper handle is the part of the tamper that goes into the portafilter handle. The tamper handle should be tight enough to hold firmly, but loose enough that you can still pull it out easily. This is the tricky part.

If the tamper handle is loose, you will see a little gap between the handle and the machine. To fix it, you’ll have to unscrew the handle from the machine, apply a little bit of lubricant on the threads, screw it back on, and then tighten it by hand.
