To fix the analog stick on your XBOX 360 controller without taking it apart, make sure that you clean the analog stick and the surrounding areas. Then, take a toothpick and a cotton swab and apply a bit of rubbing alcohol to the cotton swab. Use the cotton swab to clean around the analog stick and the surrounding areas.

If your analog stick on your Xbox 360 controller is acting weird and you can’t seem to shake it off, then there’s a great trick to fix the analog stick without taking apart your controller. Simply heat up a spoon over a stove or an open flame and hold it against the analog stick in a circular motion.

Microsoft offers repair services for the Xbox 360 controller, though it's not clear if the service extends to just the analog stick or if it goes the whole hog and fixes other things too. Either way, it'll cost you £10 plus shipping to get it shipped off to Microsoft, and you'll have to wait a week for it to come back.

First, unplug the power to the controller. Dip the cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and wipe off the excess cotton swab. Rub the cotton swab around the sticky p a few times, pushing it into the crack as much as possible.
