The most common reason why floor is sloped is because the floor structure is not level. In older homes, the floor structure is probably not level due to settling. In newer homes, the floor structure is probably not level because it was built on top of uneven ground.

There are two ways to fix a sloped floor. The first is to install a wall or a corner at the end of the slope, and the second is to install a platform or a box at the end of the slope.

Foundation experts will repair any structural problems first, and then use one of several different techniques to repair your sloping ground. This may involve raising floor joists and installing supports, or it may require lifting the entire house and installing new footers.
