If you have a broken quill or feather, there are a few methods you can use to fix it. This will depend on what kind of feather it is and the shape it’s in.

I was sitting on the couch with a coworker. We were watching something on her laptop and I noticed the feather on her quill pen was bent. I didn’t think much of it until she said she was having a hard time writing with it.

After removing the blood pen, put a little cornstarch on the affected area to help clot, and use a sterile gauze to apply pressure to the pen’s hair follicles until the bleeding stops. A new blood pen should start to grow to replace the one that needs to be drawn.

A broken quill can result from a few different things. The most common reason is that the bird is stressed or nervous. If they're a little bit stressed, they will break more quills than usual. The next most common reason is that the bird is being fed too much protein.
