5 hours  Yes, it's 5 hours each way from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon South Rim; but all of it is well-traveled, fully paved interstate highway; not one single solitary mile will take you off-road, out in the boondocks, or anywhere you need be afraid to go.

The drive from Las Vegas to the South Rim Village of the Grand Canyon takes about 5 hours, depending on how fast you’re driving and how much you stop along the way. It’s a long drive but you can stop at Hoover Dam and the Painted Desert along the way.

The drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon’s iconic South Rim — the most-visited section due to its superior canyon viewpoints and accessibility — is approximately 275 miles from the Las Vegas Strip and takes around 4.5 hours.

It’s about a 7 hour drive from Las Vegas to South Rim Village in the Grand Canyon. You can actually drive straight from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, but the drive is so long that it’s worth it to stop and see other landmarks along the way.

The Grand Canyon is massive. It's 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and a mile deep. That means it's roughly the size of the state of New Jersey. But don’t let its size discourage you from visiting.
