How long do you have to be on newstart before you can get an advance?

In Australia, you can get an advance on your Centrelink payments after you’ve been receiving your payments for 13 weeks. The amount of the advance you’ll be eligible for depends on your individual circumstances and the amount of your Centrelink payments at the time you get your advance.

The general rule is that you must be registered for at least six months before you are able to qualify for an advance. However, there are some exceptions. Some people can qualify for an advance after being on Newstart for just four weeks.
