You will need to remove the control panel. Remove the screws at the bottom and the top of the control panel. Lift the control panel off of the washer. Remove the two screws at the top and bottom of the lid switch. Pull the lid switch out of the hole in the washer.

Most washing machines come equipped with a lid switch. ... This switch performs the same function, but the lid must be locked in place for the machine to wash. A simple bypass for the first type of lid switch is to simply jam a piece of wood into the switch, causing it to activate the solenoid.

Bypassing the lid switch on a top load washer is easy. The lid switch on a top load washer is responsible for turning the washer on and off. Bypassing it means you can do laundry without having to physically open the lid.
