In marketing, we call that a consumer’s “habit loop.” Anytime you create a trigger, which is an external stimulus that prompts a behaviour, and then attach it to an action or a reward, you get a habit.

A pattern of behaviours tied to life events that affect what and how people consume is called a habit loop. At its core, it’s a ritual: an action, followed by a reward, which is reinforced until it becomes automatic. Habits are formed when a cue triggers a routine.
