Reading aloud to children provides them with a feeling of community and acceptance. It allows them to feel close to the person reading to them, whether that’s a grandparent, parent, or other loved one. It also allows them to feel connected to the story, and to the characters in it.
When reading to kids, you don't want to simply read the words on the page. Instead, you want to become the characters in the story. In order to do this, you have to imagine what it would be like to be the character in the book. You have to think about what you would do if you were the character.
